photoblog image In the Garden: Hibiscus

In the Garden: Hibiscus

I wonder if this was ever considered a great substitute for a bouquet of roses. The climate in Nigeria's not conducive for growing roses and it was very hard, back in the day, to get them. Hibiscus were all over the place when i was growing up, so if you gave a girl one of these for her birthday, on  Valentine's day or whatever special occasion, you might as well forget going out with her and it's likely your rep would go down the drain. Nowadays it's a bit hard to find them so you just might be able to pull off giving a lass one or some of these. However, i wouldn't try it if i were you.

BTW, this was taken in the gargen behind the MUSON Centre, Lagos.

It's Hibiscus flower. Haven't seen one in a long time. I remember during the Science practical days in highschool, we would dissect the flower. Lovely capture. Did u do any PP on this?
Morenike Olagbaju: thanks. yeah, i used the curve tool in PS, applied an overlay, screen and also used the multiply tool on "Apply Image" (still don't know how to use layers). then i sharpened the image with picasa. To see the difference here's the original: http://www.shusho.shutterchance.com/photoblog/34117.htm
