The Blessed Giver

A friend/colleague's husband sent her flowers on HIS birthday. And I thought how sweet of him. No doubt, this was to thank my friend for being such a wonderful wife/mom/girlfriend or - for even being in his life. Most  people are used to getting things on their birthdays or occasions special to them - it hardly occurs to most of us to give ('cept when we have something to gain ourselves).

Contrary to our natural instincts, i read somewhere that it's more blessed to give than to receive and i totally believe it. You should've have seen the smile on my pal's face when the flowers were delivered to our office - it stayed on her face the whole day. I'm sure her husband also felt blessed when he saw her smile that day. Just shows that when we bless others we're really blessing ourselves.

So go ahead... bless someone (who probably has no reason to expect it) today, it need not be with something expensive, it may not even cost a penny. It's really the thought that you're thinking of the other person that counts.

Am I going bless anyone special? Duh? I already have - to all those who've taken the time out over the last week (and this week) to encourage me in this new found pursuit - this is my blessing to you.  Hope you like these flowers ;) (however, this shouldn't stop you from tearing it apart in your comments if you don't)

Love,

M.

Well Well Well. Finally you decide to join. I am proud. The good thing about the camera phone is it allows you to focus on composition. Eventually you will probably get a DSLR but till then....

Enjoy your camera phone.

Oh by the way I am trying to stage a come back, dont know how successful I will be, At least I have a picture up today..

Lets see how it goes.
Morenike Olagbaju: Thanks! Glad to have you back. I see you put up a racy pic today to get things started... Is this a sign of things to come? wink

P.S. is it the case that you a DSLR doesn't allow you focus on composition?

I like this shot.
I have a couple of shots taken with my camera phone and with them you can basically only point and shoot. Nothiing to fiddle with or make the picture taking process "complicated".

The hand that gives is always above(try it!)Ironically, the one that's recieving is below. I've learnt to cultivate a giving lifestyle, truly, i never lack and i can trace it to my giving lifestyle though the key is actually in not expecting anything back in return. Meditate on this quote;

People are often unreasonable, illogical, and self-centered --- forgive them anyway!
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish ulterior motives ---
be kind anyway!
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true
enemies --- succeed anyway!
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you --- be honest and
frank anyway!
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight ---
build anyway!
If you find serenity and happiness, many people may be jealous --- be
happy anyway!
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow --- do good
anyway!
Give the world the best you have, and it may never be enough --- Give
it the best you've got anyway! ~ by Mother Teresa
